I have a OE helix for the 93-94 750..42/37 I bought it for my 92 and the splines are just alittle different, I could force it on but have elected to sell it and buy one for the 92. I paid $50+ shipping, thats What I will sell it for.

Looking for the 42/37 for a 92 secondary.....

Helix for Sale

Is it a 42/37 or a 43/37 helix? Looking at past posts it seems the numbers were 43/37??
I have a 94 750ST that I will be upgrading with PSI Quads & need to do clutch updates. Do you know what the standard helix on the 94's was?
I have not checked it out yet but do know that I will want to go with the experienced clutching recommendations from this group of memebers such as Yammiegod etc. Am planning to start the conversions & upgrades after the holiday's.
If this helix is what I need, I am interested in it.
Thanks, Rob

It would be a 42/37 "R" helix. I believe the 93/94 models came with a 38 degree helix. The 42/37 should give you a faster up shift.

The 43/37 helix is a custom cut Hauck helix and according to Pat Hauck it's a more aggressive cut of the 42/37, in other words it has more of the ramp cut at 42 degrees.

Helix Questions

So, would the 42/37 be part of the set up I want to run?
Converting to PSI quads & want to up primary clutch engagement from current 3300 to 4200rpm. It is a pig out of the hole right now.
We ride in 4,500' to 7,000 elevation range.
750ST Long track that seems to be dead stock, trail & powder riding.
What are the thoughts out there on this helix for my sled set up?
Dont want to buy it & find out it was the wrong thing to do.

Thanks for any input, Rob .:xmas-smil

the 92 and possibly 93 were 38 degree, '94 was 39........

The 92's came from the factory with a 39 (not plated) and they replaced them under warranty with a 42/37 (nickle plated). The 93's came with a 38. (This is from Yamaha Tech info). I don't have the tech info on the 94's, probably was a 39 like you said.

Rob,

I assume that you are mountain riding? If so you would probably want a lower degree helix like a 36. This would give you a slower upshift and faster backshift which I believe you would want for Mountain riding. The best thing to do is post a question in the Mountain forum. I think many of the mountain riders go with a different secondary clutch like the AC which gives more tuning options.

The 92's came from the factory equipped with a non-plated 39 degree helix, 89A-17684 with a casting mark 89A 39.

Yamaha did a bunch of work on these sleds under warranty some of which included; main jets, pilot jets, primary moveable sheave, primary weights, primary roller and weight bushings, secondary sheave angle, double wide small secondary bushing, large secondary bushing, secondary ramp shoes, plated helix, and probably a few things that I'm not recalling from memory.

To properly identify a helix for these sleds you need the casting marks and any punch marks that are on the helix. You will probably find an "A" punched on yours, which identifies it as the upgraded 1992, 42/37, nickle plated helix.

3ft,

Sorry to hyjack your thread and scare off a potential customer.

This helix would be good for anyone with a 93/94 looking for better acceleration, faster upshift. There isn't a lot of options available for helixes for these sleds and this is the helix that Hauck puts in their clutch kit for the Vmax-4, unless you request a more aggressive custom cut helix.
