headlight cover

im looking for one of those black headlight covers- but im wondering if they are just smoked or if they are a black plastic that wont let light through. in other words can i use it at night?

Black plastic is what i have,never saw a smoked one.

could i use window tint to make one, or would it get too hot and melt to the shroud?

it will melt it. the cover i have i about an eighth inch thick. absolutly no ligh passes through.
