does any one have a 1997 v-max4 rear skid??? are these on the endangered spiecies list???? i also am considering a good newer pro-action skid if some one out there has one. want to upgrade the 94 stock skid is a mess!! thanks to all pete

How about normal pro-action? It just about same. Just add spacers because V4 tunnel is a little bit wider than normal (SxR / Viper) skid/tunnel.
I would consider RX-1 mono shock skid as well.

don't waste your time looking for a skid from a 1997 Vmax4, it'll be next to impossible to find. Better off looking for a newer proaction and just adding spacers or (this is what I would do) find a mono shock or pro-active suspension and mount that under your sled.

thanks for the reply reimond@exciter570.i thought any skid except the 97 would need to modify the tunnel mounting holes.if the other skids need to be just shimmed im all for it!!! whats the diference between pro-action and pro-active???what should i expect to pay for a good complete skid? i can get a 2001 srx skid for 175.00 in good condition. i dont mind spending the money if im getting a better ride(thats got to be easy)and less modification to tunnel.this is all new to me and i love my max-4 just hate the ride!!! thanks to every one. this site is very informative and interesting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In `97 Yamaha only made 50 Vmax4`s,hard to find parts is right. In Canada New Old Stock`96 Vmax4,Yamaha had the dealer install the `97 pro-action in the some sleds.I have A complete sled, and know where the drilling jig is.You might try that route.I dont know how common this was.Does any one know if they did this in the USA?
Mark.

I bouht a RX-1 skid off e-bay for 200. There is a guy in bloomington IL who is always parting these out. I would look there. It was off a 2003 and in great shape. FYI
