Given the time it takes to get to the cranks and the cost of gaskets, i believe it would be a mistake to cheap out on the welding of one side. Having done the job a few times its still a good days work, for the sake of saving $50 i wouldn't do it myself. On your way out you might want to peel your head gasket

mistermax New member Sep 12, 2014 #4 ok. thanks I was give/bought over a dozen cranks. most come to find out were welded and had some kind of problem.(junk) just got a whole pile of junk welded cranks
