Newb wiring question

Hi all
So I picked up a 93 750 and it's 20 years old so of course lots of the wiring has been mucked with so I noticed that the two wires (black and black+yellow) that go to the mixture knob that sits on the top middle of the carb bank have simply been plugged into themselves. so I tried plugging the mix knob in and now I don't have spark, seems very odd. Does anyone know what's going on there? I will try and post a picture asap
Thanks

That knob you are talking about is the idle speed adjustment knob only, not a mixture screw. The two wires plugged in to each other are from the rev limiter that someone by-passed (quite common). My guess is there is a problem in there somewhere, that when plugged back in is grounding out your spark much like how the kill switch works. Try unplugging it again to the way it was and see if you regain your spark!?...Rob.
