Pro Action out of a 96 XT

I been looking on here to see if anyone has done it, I see later models but no 96 xt, said for the donner sled. With the exception of the rear mount is there more fab involved?

I installed a 136" pro action from a 99 venture touring in mine and had some minor work to do. Hole locations were measured off the donor sled in relation to the drive shaft and top of the tunnel. My biggest issue was the pro action was narrower then my tunnel (believe by 3/8" but i could be wrong its been a couple years now) I got a new front shaft from royal dist that they said was for a skidawg, but it was the right dim's so for $16 i went with that. Pretty sure the middle shaft was a direct swap from my stock short track skid, and I made new thicker rear drop brackets to off set the distance to the rear pro action shaft. Then I had to cut spacers from a scrap skid for all 3 shafts to keep it aligned. If i were to do it again i would do it differantly for sure. I would make 6 plates and rivet them directly to the tunnel use all the pro action shafts and get longet bolts.

DON'T FORGET TO RE ENFORCE THE NEW MOUNTING HOLES!!! I got burnt by it and had to make 4 plates to fix up oval holes on either side of the front shaft. Use steel rivets not alum, they are to weak and just snap off.

May seem like a lot of work BUT OMG it soooo worth it I don't ach after a 100+ mile ride anymore!!

Hope this helps

I have installed the 1996XT skid and have the dealer drill plate. Its not a straight swap, however pretty easy. Can give you more info,if you want.
