rear heat exchanger protectors

Thanks ken. got some. the old max launches hard out of the hole just a matter of time ...gotta have em

5-600 protectors fit it the same space as an 800 but they are shorter top to bottom, I still have a new set for an 800, they are not the same for an ST

im gonna make them work either way. the st has one mother of a cooler to rip all to hell thats for sure.

ST's have a longer rear heat exchanger. Longtrack (136") 5-600's are the same as an ST.

Those would be your Huckleberry.

You mean the ST has the same protectors as the 500/600Xt in 96, the standard is not the same. The 750/800 89A protector only fits itself, the 500/600 standard looks the same but is shorter, the 500/660 st in 96 had its own protector, which should be the same as the ST, as well you should have the full length ones.

Don't know what you think I mean but I'll clarify.

ST--- Longtrack/mountian 136" track. Vmax-4's, Vmax 500-600's all have a tunnel extention with a longer rear heat exchanger. The 500-600 "XT" is different as it runs a 121"track. The rear protector for that longer exchanger carries the same part # on all but the 97 Vmax-4 longtrack. On some online parts places the 94 Vmax-4ST parts diagrams will show an 89A part # for the rear exchanger protector. That is wrong. The 89A protector is to short to work without modifications.

89L-21978-00 List is $86.64 each.

The 89A protector is for the 121 tracks. Didn't look up how many models it fits as he was not asking about a 121". He was asking about an ST 136".

Some pics of the difference. I don't have the longtrack protectors but you can see the difference.

Thats the beast for sure. i would think i could build a couple of brackets to extend them to reach the rear mounting point.
