starting grass drags or radar runs?

I know it probably is totally different in other states besides us but would anyone have an idea where to start if you wanted to set up a track to do radar runs or grass drags in your area? Lisa and I where just thinking since so many people around our area have been talking about these types of races that they miss. I know there are some in New York but I guess most of these guys just want to have fun around here instead of traveling.
Thanks for any help or opinions. I guess law suits and money are the 2 important factors but would you think that it would be something that would need to be passed by your township?
Thanks,
Doug

Hey Doug! Back in the day when they first started they were almost always used as fund raisers and fun days at orgs like Volunteer Fire Depts and Ambulance corps or even sportsman clubs. They usually have a recreation field to hold them at and they are always looking for events to raise money with. You might want to talk to them or mayby find a progressive Amish family?...Blue

Tom,
Yes that is what I remember about grass drags at the local fire station. They were great to go and have fun. I just don't know why they don't have them anymore other then liability insurance. I will do some checking. I know you are probably thinking where could we have a flat area aroundhere! Maybe we could do hill climbs! LOL
