sleds runs fine on clutch side cyc 1 and 2 3 and 4 turning plugs black only reaching 8000 rpm carbs cleaned :cussing::cussing:

jammer. Was this sled running quad pipes for starters?. If it was, and the cranks weren,t welded, than most likely YES, its the start of the cranks going out of phase. But don,t panic just yet until you confirm this by pulling the plugs and bringing #1 cyl. up to top dead center. #1 should be at 12 o-clock, #2 should be at 6 o-clock, #3 at 3 o-clock, and #4 at 9 o-clock. This can be done by rolling the motor back and forth with simple straws in the plug holes th measure the piston depths to confirm. Hope this eases the pain a little...Rob.

Hi jammer
Is the #1 cyl on the clutch side or on the rh side? So if your looking at the motor from the clutchside then the motor must spin clockwise right?

maybe crank seal is bad. i don't remember if it goes lean or fat with bad seal. if it it bad, it will also leak oil, under the recoil box.

Bad Crank seal would cause a lean condition.

If you were standing on the CLUTCH side of the sled/motor, the actuall "motor" it`s self, would be spinning clockwise, but the clutch would be sping counter clockwise..

Thaknks AL P.
proably not seal then.

Maybe small fuel leak in vacuum hose to the fuel pumps?
Of course all proposals is useless if crank is out of phase though.
