I keep reading about RPC ignition box, benders ignition box and 180*. I would like more info on it like what thoes it do? is there a big hp add on? where could i find one?
When a pair of pistons on a crankshaft come to a stop at top dead center and bottom dead center at the same time their energy is absorbed by the crankshaft and its rpm is increased. With the crankshafts aligned at 90* for even firing the other crank is at its slowest speed as the pistons pass each other midstroke. The 180 timing avoided this resonance which tended to slip the drive gear on the crank by firing two at a time. It is better to weld the cranks to avoid issues.
My understanding of what I have read from other more knowlegable members is that the 800 cdi I has a better timing curve than the 750 cdi but that the 800 cdi box alone is not going to make a huge difference.............Tom
That would be correct, but also the rpm of the rev limiter has been moved higher on the 800 cdi, better timing curve for power, and also can allow higher rev,s for quad pipes. Hope this helps explain...Rob.
