92 Vmax-4 Part Out (Barn find) w/ 789cc Motor

Ran across this sled on my search for 800 PSI pipes. Farmer in MN that owned it started to build it for Grass Drags 2 years ago and never finished(been in his barn since). It's mostly Vmax-4 but has a Viper seat, luvers, and gas tank. It also has a 01 SRX skid, and really nice USI skis Older gentalman that owned it had top of motor built, did skid, and some other craxy things to it and then lost interested. He said motor has a few hours on it just driving around on his farm land in MN(About 100 miles). He bought sled with a burnt piston. He has a family member that owns a motor shop so he had the 750 bored out and sleved to a 789cc. He did not have cylinders Nicklsel coated, he went with some type of coating used in the aviation industry (He's going to give me name of shop that did work so I can find out exactly what was used). According to him it is much more durable then nicklesel. He said you can burn up a piston and not damage cylinder---It would just need to be acid washed and honed. Wiseco 63mm pistons were used. I may tear down motor for inspection and pictures, but first will post a video of it running w/ in a few days.

PM or email(carllaponte@yahoo.com) me if you are interested in anything----I need to clean it so I can have a better idea of condition of parts.

Im always amazed how much effort people put into doing things the wrong way. I bought a 95 once that had been cobbled together. It would have been SOOOO much easier to put the or react parts back on it.

I know. I dont know much about that SRX skid, but does not look much better then the stock V4 skid. If you were going to go through the trouble of swapping out a skid would you want to get a pretty good upgrade?

Trade you for your white one---I'll even do the driving.....The more I see it the more it groes on me!

Yea, I have not even had time to get it out of the trailer. My back has been screwed up ever since I loaded it! I guess that's the price I pay for the sweet deal I got.

Those USI skiis are the same ones on my '96. They have worked well for the limited miles that I have put on the sled.

I have USI skis on my sled. They seem great, very light. Only problem I had was installing carbides. Had to grind an 1/8" of the front so they would fit in skis. They were woody's.

Ya how about it, nothing like pulling a Vmax-4 w/ new carbides off a trailer backwards. I had my 15 year old son and his buddy do it yesterday ( the both think they are tough football stars-lol). They both acted like no biggie we'll yank that off-- It was funny watching how frustrated they got.

lol, I was at the races a month or so ago. My buddy is running a vmax-4, anyways he creeps past the starting line, gets asked to back up. The starting line was on a bit of a slope by now, no way could he pull that long track 95 back the 8 inches or so, he would get it back some and then it would roll forward again. Start judge just said the heck with it and let him go. I was just about to throw him a tow rope and tug him backwards.

Motor Info

Here's a link of motor running. Wanted to get this up before a tore sled apart. Ran Compression test (120-121-121-120). I will update tomorrow w/ name of coating on cylinders...

F/S 750 Carbs Note----They have been cleaned w/ new o-rings installed.

Pls PM me if you are interested in anything.
