Keeping heat in pipes

Anyone know what kind of coating is best for keeping heat in the pipe, looked at Chromex, nice stuff but lets heat out, like to keep pipes hot and ready to go. The pipes are RPC quads. Thanks

what about pipe wrap? does`nt look the greatest, but should be the ticket for keeping the heat in. I know a few guys that use`es it on thier bike pipes.

wrap does do the trick very well, but it does hold moisture.....so it will promote rust on your pipes.....if used in the right conditions it does work well, I used to use it on my dg pipes on my rz 350.....but I now have Ceramic coated Lomas pipes, they work well and look better to boot.

Coating

I agree with Jamie, ceramic is your best bet but quite spendy. The jet hot seems to work pretty good for allot less money. It is also a ceramic coating that cures at ambient temp, so the durability is not as good as the baked ceramic. Brian at american custom surfacing does ceramic for about 80.00 per pipe plus the cost of the stingers. The jet hot is about 30.00 per pipe including the stingers. Classic coatings in Sheboygan Wis. did a new set of max4 mod quads for me and by the time they were ceramic coated and polished it was pretty close to 1000.00. Gotta say, they look darn near like chrome, they really did a nice job. Maha, can get you info on these guys if ya need it

Thanks, I send an email off to jet-hot for a quote for both thier 1300 and 2400 degree coatings. I really don't know how much heat are in the pipes that I need to keep, hotter the better. Keep this up and the next thing you know I'll have to get gauges...........It's just local racing, nothing more then a few poos and a cat or two.

guy does nice work....and can drop pipes off in Toronto.....instead of driving all the way up north to Orangeville! He had some bad luck this year loosing his wife in a snowmobile accident!

I must be asking the wrong questions then:

" Hi Jim,

We recommend Chromex on all snowmobile exhausts. It will do an excellent job of retaining heat inside the pipe, reduce the radiation of heat to other components under the hood and reduce the corrosion and rusting.

The price is $85.00 per expansion chamber, and $30.00 per stinger muffler. We also coat the exhaust manifolds for $10.00 each. We need about 7 working days to process the parts.

Thanks and talk to you soon!" Plus shipping,,,,,,,I think I like burnt black.....
