Vmax-Apex GTowner

Hello,
I have a 94 vmax 4 that had sat in the shed for two many years. I would put oil down the cylinders and pull it over from time to time. The gas was foul and the carbs were siezed. I bought a set of carbs that were cleaned off of ebay and drained the gas tank.
New gas and the carbs changed it fired up and ran like a champ. I had it out for a run and the sled was sitting idling away. I moved my Apex GT inside the garage and went to move the Vmax 4. As it was moving the sled backfired and then shut off as if you turned off the key.
I went to restart it and could not pull the cord. It woudn't budge. I took off the belt guard and went to turn the clutch. I had to spin the motor backwards to get it to move.
I pulled the cord and it fired up again but the motor did not sound right!! I went to rev it up and the sled will not move. Even when I give it more throttle the clutch does not seem to engage and it definately does not sound right.
What could the problem be? Other than letting this beautifull sled sit to long?
thanks in advance
please help!
